How to Turn Off Nintendo Switch

There are two ways to turn off your Nintendo Switch:

·         Through the Power Menu

1.      Press and hold the POWER button for 3 seconds.

2.      The Power Menu will appear.

3.      Select Power Options > Turn Off.

·         By holding the POWER button for 12 seconds

1.      Press and hold the POWER button for 12 seconds.

2.      The console will power off.

You must simultaneously press and hold the POWER button and the Volume Down button for 12 seconds if you want to use the Switch in handheld mode.

Which approach should I employ?

The best way to turn off your Switch is through the Power Menu. By doing so, you'll have time to save your game and close any running programs before the console shuts off. If you need to shut off the console right away, you can alternatively press and hold the POWER button for 12 seconds. You won't be able to close any running programs or save your game as a result.

Does my Switch need to be turned off?

The answer is no, you do not have to shut off your Switch after each use. Simply switch it to sleep mode. When the console is turned back on after being in sleep mode, you can pick up where you left off in your game. On the other hand, it is a good idea to totally power off your Switch if you won't be using it for a while. The battery's lifespan will be aided by this.
