Alan Wake 2 Gamescom Trailer Takes Us To The Dark Place

Alan Wake 2 is almost here, and at Gamescom Opening Night Live, developer Remedy Entertainment had a fresh slice of spooky gameplay to show off for its upcoming survival-horror game. We previously saw how things are going for new co-protagonist, Saga Anderson. Now, we finally join Alan in the Dark Place to see how rough his life has been over the past 13 years.

Alan's prison-like existence is set in a twisted version of New York City, all thanks to his own memories and psyche being used against him. Blending live action with in-engine gameplay, the end result is a dream-like mix, as intended by Remedy.

In the 13 years since the original game first launched, Alan Wake 2's journey saw some fascinating shifts along the way. The original pitch for the game included TV-style live action cutscenes--an idea that would be featured in Quantum Break--and other ideas for the sequel that were ultimately used for Control.
